We are delighted to announce new funding to extend our Walk and Talk service until July 2027.
Mental Health Awareness Week this year is themed around the importance of movement for good mental health with strong evidence to support this.
Evidence also highlights that carers are more likely to experience poor mental and physical health, compared to the rest of the population.
Our Walk and Talk service has been supporting carers to increase their physical activity, improve their mental health and develop peer support for the last two years and 65% of carers who come on a walk continue walking with other carers when that support ends.
We are delighted to therefore let you know the National Lottery is funding us to continue our Walk and Talk service until July 2027!
We are enormously grateful to them and the carers who have helped us with their feedback and responding to surveys which helped with our bid.
The funding will mean that we will be running more walks for specific carer groups and increasing the areas where our walks are run; further details will be shared with you as these develop.
