National strategy for disabled people survey launched

The government has launched a public survey as part of developing a National Strategy for Disabled People.

The Disability Unit in the Cabinet Office is working with government colleagues, disabled people, disabled people’s organisations, charities and businesses to develop the strategy, to be published in Spring 2021. The strategy will make practical changes to policies that strengthen disabled people’s ability to participate fully in society.

The public survey, launched today, is a chance for disabled people and their carers, friends and family to share views and life experiences. The responses will help the government understand the barriers faced by disabled people and what it can do to improve disabled people’s lives.

The survey will be open until 23 April 2021Responses received before 13 February 2021 will inform the development of the National Strategy. Those received after this date will be used to inform its delivery.

Take part in the survey online at Citizen Space.

The survey is available in Easy Read and BSL, and written responses can be sent to: DUCitizenspace@cabinetoffice.gov.uk.

A braille version is available on request and blind or partially sighted people who are having difficulty filling in the online survey can email RNIB for advice or support at: campaigns@rnib.org.uk.
